Un esordio più che positivo per gli azzurri in questa due giorni di Coppa del Mondo andorrana. Il giorno dopo la vertical che subito ci aveva regalato grosse soddisfazioni, anche la prova individuale ha confermato l’eccellente stato di forma dei nostri atleti. A dirlo sono le classifiche. A livello giovani abbiamo Faifer e Nicolini rispettivamente in seconda e terza posizione. Al femminile Alessandra Cazzanelli  ha invece conquistato un bel bronzo. Se nelle cadette Giulia Compagnoni è giunta 2ª, in gara espoir abbiamo Boscacci e Antonioli rispettivamente oro e argento; idem come sopra al femminile con Martina Valmassoi ed Elisa Compagnoni. Nella gara assoluta Argento di Eydallin alle spalle di uno scatenato Kilian Jornet  e bronzo di Lorenzo Holzknecht. A seguire 4 Reichegger, 6° Boscacci e 9° Robert Antonioli. Nella gara in rosa, praticamente replicato il podio vertical con il terzeto Roux, Mirò e Pellissier

La prima tappa di Coppa del Mondo si chiude con i successi dello spagnolo Jornet e della francese Laetitia Roux. Per quanto riguarda la gara femminile la Roux ha fatto gara a se cercando più la prestazione sportiva che il confronto con l’amica-rivale Mirò. Gloriana Pellissier ha lasciato da subito le due avversarie salire con il loro gruppo, cercando di difendersi dagli attacchi della svizzera Marie Troillet. In campo maschile la gara è stata più combattuta e dinamica con quattro atleti, uno spagnolo e tre italiani. Kilian Jornet Burgada, Matteo Eydallin, Manfred Reichegger e Lorenzo Holzeknecht sono stati autori di una gara ricca di colpi di scena a ritmi stratosferici. La gara Individuale, disegnata interamente fuoripista si è corsa nel comprensorio sciistico di Arcalis contando cinque salite e altrettante discese per un dislivello complessivo di 1580 metri.

Nella terza salita gli organizzatori avevano previsto due tratti da affrontare con i ramponi. Al termine della prima salita è Michele Boscacci a tenere il comando della gara, avendo alle spalle Jornet Burgada, Holzeknecht, e Reichegger, poco più staccati lo svizzero Martin Anthamatten e Matteo Eydallin. Kilian nei cambi non sbaglia un colpo e parte per primo. In discesa sono tutti vicini, all’attacco del primo tratto a piedi Reichegger prende l’iniziativa e trascina su il gruppo. Nel successivo tratto tecnico Matteo Eydallin dà il cambio al compagno di squadra. In discesa gli azzurri si prendono le prime tre posizioni e volano al cambio per la terza salita. Kilian esce dalla piazzola con dieci metri di svantaggio ma non ci mette molto a ricucire lo svantaggio. Recuperato lo sforzo, lo spagnolo mette la freccia e arriva al termine della penultima salita con dieci secondi di vantaggio. In discesa è caccia all’uomo, i quattro atleti arrivano al cambio pelli ancora vicini, ma Kilian parte per primo e inizia la sua progressione verso la vittoria. Reichegger si stacca e lascia a Eydallin e a Holzeknecht contendersi la seconda piazza. Kilian arriva al cambio in solitudine e si butta verso il traguardo. I due azzurri sono ancora insieme, ma Eydallin cerca la massima pendenza, scia come solo lui sa fare e va a prendersi la seconda piazza. Lorenzo Holzeknecht conquista il bronzo mentre Reichegger è quarto. Lo svizzero Anthamatten è quinto mentre Michele Boscacci è sesto.

Kilian ha tagliato il traguardo con il tempo di 1.27.02 con un vantaggio di venticinque secondi su Eydallin.
In campo femminile Laetitia Roux, impiegata su un percorso più breve con 1350 metri di dislivello, ha chiuso con il tempo di 1.25.03. La spagnola Mireia Mirò ha confermato la seconda piazza davanti all’azzurra Pellissier.
Oggi sul tracciato delle donne hanno corso anche gli Junior maschile, mentre la categoria Junior femminile e i Cadetti dovevano affrontare un percorso di soli mille metri. Ina Forchthammer e Aleix Domenech Guix hanno vinto la categoria cadetti, mentre tra gli Junior hanno dominato il fuoriclasse tedesco Anton Palzer e Jennifer Fiechter.
Tra gli Espoir salgono sul podio, Michele Boscacci, primo, Robert Antonioli e Matheo Jacquemoud.

The first World Cup race ends on a sweet note for the Spaniard Jornet and the French Laetitia Roux. In the women’s challenge, Roux competes against time rather than her friend and rival Mirò. Gloriana Pellissier immediately lets the two opponents go with the leading group, and tries to fend off the pressing Swiss Marie Troillet. The men’s race, on the contrary, is way tenser and dynamic. Four athletes, a Spaniard and three Italians, namely Kilian Jornet Burgada, Matteo Eydallin, Manfred Reichegger and Lorenzo Holzeknecht stage a dramatic race, with continuous changes of lead and at a breath-taking pace. The individual race, to take place in the Arcalis skiing area, is designed to unwind entirely off the slopes. It is comprised of 5 ascents and as many descents for a total height difference of 1580 metres. At the third ascent the organizers have planned two stretches to be raced with crampons. At the end of the first ascent Michele Boscacci is on the lead, chased by Jornet Burgada, Holzeknecht and Reichegger; the Swiss Martin Anthamatten and Matteo Eydallin follow further behind. Kilian makes perfect changes and is the first to attempt to take the lead. In the descent the pack is tight but at the foot of the first part on foot Reichegger takes the initiative and leads the pack uphill. In the following technical part Mateo Eydallin switches positions with his teammate. In the ascent the Italians take the first three positions and race towards the change for the third ascent. Kilian comes out of the changing spot ten meters shy of the leaders but immediately catches up with them. As soon as he recovers from the effort, the Spaniard pushes on the gas pedal and gets at the end of the penultimate ascent 10 seconds in the lead. The descent is packed with adrenaline; when the four athletes come to the skin change they are still packed, though Kilian sprints first and paves the way to victory. Reichegger gives in and leaves Eydallin and Holzeknecht battling for the second place. Kilian makes it to the change alone and rushes for the finish line. The two azzurri are still together, though Eydallin makes the most of the slope, skis like no one else can and takes the second place. Lorenzo Holzeknecht wins the bronze medal and Reichegger finishes fourth. The Swiss Anthamatten finishes fifth and Michele Boscacci ends sixth. Kilian crosses the finish line after 1.27.02, 25 seconds ahead of Eydallin.
As regards the women’s race, Laetitia Roux, racing on a shorter, 1,350-meter height difference track, wins in 1.25.03. The Spaniard Mireia Mirò confirms her second place before the Italian Pellissier.
On the women’s race track it is also the turn of men’s Junior athletes, while the women’s Juniors and the Cadets have to face a track measuring only a thousand metres. Ina Forchthammer and Aleix Domenech Guix win for the Cadet category, while the German ace Anton Palzer and Jennifer Fiechter dominate the Junior challenges.
Among the Espoir, Michele Boscacci ends first, followed by Robert Antonioli and Matheo Jacquemoud.
