Limone Skyrunning Extreme and Vertical de la Mughéra: the double world final will be held at the end of October in the mountains running between the Lombardy and Trentino regions. Registration is still open for what sky runners consider a genuine end-of-season happening.
On Saturday, October 28, in Alto Garda, great champions and amateur athletes will be on the starting lines of two races that have written the recent history of this sport. The vertical race will decide the winners of the ISF (International Skyrunning Federation) VK OPEN Championship circuit, while the skyrace will be the final of the Skyrunning World Series for the 9th time in 12 editions. Technical sponsor of the event will once again be Scarpa.
FOR VERTICALISTS:
After having run 13 races in 9 different countries, the "only up" specialists will elect the king and queen of the season in a final overlooking the lake with… prohibitive slopes. The race is obviously open (200 bibs available): at 9:30 am on Saturday, some of the world's best athletes in the specialty, accompanied by numerous amateurs, will compete on the acrobatic ascent that leads to the finish line of Cima Mughéra. The route is the same as always: a 1100 m elevation gain in less than 3 km. From the starting line at just 60 meters above sea level, the course shoots up along a specially "cleaned" and marked trail to the finish line at 1,160 meters above sea level. The times to beat are 36'02" (Rémi Bonnet - 2018) and 42'43" (Andrea Mayr - 2021).
The program has been specifically designed to allow the athletes of the vertical test to reach the top and then follow the salient phases of the “up & down” race.
SKYMASTER WILL DECIDE THE WINNERS OF THE SKYRUNNING WORLD SERIES:
In the land of skyrunning, it will once again be a challenge within a challenge. There will be two separate starts, the same route, and a single ranking from which the winners of the cup circuit and the best overall time trials will emerge.
The winners of the day and the cup will therefore be decided by the tried and tested 22.22 km loop with an elevation gain of 2052 meters. Departure and arrival will, as always, be in the suggestive location of Lungolago Marconi in Limone. In this case, the start will be at 11:30 am and the times to beat will be 2h23'03” (Nadir Maguet) and 2h55'23” (Denisa Dragomir).
As always, the awards ceremony will take place in the afternoon and a big end-of-season party will be held in the evening. For more information and registration: www.limonextreme.com
