Il popolo dello skyrunning è ormai pronto per il gran finale di Limone sul Garda dove verranno ufficializzati i titoli vinti da Kilian Jornet e Stevie Kremer nella specialità SkyRace e decretati i migliori scalatori della stagione nella specialità vertical

Le date da segnarsi in agenda sono quelle di venerdì 10 e sabato 11 ottobre: «Stiamo lavorando per regalare a pubblico e atleti una due giorni di Sport e Spettacolo con la “S” maiuscola – ha esordito il numero uno della SS Limonese Franco Codogni -. Sulla base dell’esperienza 2013, abbiamo quindi apportato alcune migliorie al programma, inserendo una festa finale che sarà il momento culminante di questo week end a fil di cielo».

Entrando nei dettagli, Codogni ha proseguito: «Il vertical del venerdì sera avrà una doppia partenza, sia per dare la possibilità di prendervi parte a un numero maggiore di persone, sia per permettere al popolo delle sky di arrivare al traguardo in tempo per poi tifare e godersi in prima persona la repentina ascesa dei propri idoli.  Avremo quindi un primo start alle 18.30 e uno della categoria élite un’ora più tardi. Il tutto con un cancello orario posto all’altezza del primo ristoro dove, per motivi logistici, verranno fermati i concorrenti che transiteranno sopra i 35’. E’ un tempo abbordabilissimo, quindi non preoccupatevi».

Giunti in cima i corridori saranno riaccompagnati alla partenza a piedi tramite una comoda mulattiera, poi tutti a letto, in vista della seconda gara iridata per la quale è prevista un’altra grande novità:«Una finale deve essere momento di sport, ma anche di festa. Per questo abbiamo anticipato la SkyRace al sabato pomeriggio – ha continuato Giovanni Fedrici del Comitato Organizzatore -. Al termine della gara avremo pasta party, premiazioni di Vertical e SkyRace sul lungolago e tanta musica live. Ottenuto il parere favorevole dal nostro direttore gara Fabio Meraldi, posso anticipare che avremo ritrovo concorrenti per punzonatura e conferma iscrizione alle 12.30. Presenteremo i top runner e daremo il via alla gara alle 13.30. Anche in questo caso, avremo 3 cancelli orari. Saranno cancelli decisamente abbordabili, ma che ci serviranno a non avere concorrenti sul tracciato al calare del sole. In base alle iscrizioni già pervenute ci attendiamo una gara davvero mondiale. Noi, da parte nostra, daremo il massimo per regalarvi una due giorni indimenticabile».

NB: Non è previsto un tetto massimo di adesioni.  Le iscrizioni on line sono aperte sino all’8 ottobre. Per la sky sarà invece possibile accaparrarsi un pettorale presso  l’ufficio gare entro e non oltre le ore 19 dell’10 ottobre.

NEWS IN ENGLISH: "An even more appealing formula for the double final 2014"

The skyrunning world is ready for the finale in Limone sul Garda where the titles won by Kilian Jornet and Stevie Kreme in the SkyRace specialty will be announced and the best vertical climbers of the season will be proclaimed.

The dates to remember are Friday, October 10, and Saturday, October 11. "We're working to give the public and athletes two days of Sport and Spectacle with a capital S," said SS Limonese Director Franco Codogni. "Based on our experience in 2013, we've made some improvements to the program, adding a party for the finale that will be the culminating moment of this weekend where earth meets sky."   

Entering in the details, Codogni continued, "The vertical on Friday evening will have a double start to give more people a chance to participate and to give skyrunning fans the opportunity to reach the finish line in time to cheer on their idols during their swift ascent. We'll have a first start  at 6:30 p.m. and one for the top contenders at 7:30 p.m. The time gate will be at the location of the first refreshment area where, for logistical purposes, competitors clocking in at over 35' will be stopped. It's an accessible time, so don't worry."

Once they reach the top, the runners will be accompanied back to the starting point on foot by way of an easy trail. Everyone will have a chance to rest up for the second championship race on the following day that has another special event planned. "The finale is a moment of sport but it is also a celebration. That's why we moved SkyRace up to Saturday afternoon," said Giovanni Fedrici, a member of the Organizing Committee. "After the race, we'll have a pasta party, with an awards ceremony for the Vertical and SkyRace events and lots of live music. Having received the approval of our race director Fabio Meraldi, we'll have the competitors gather for confirmation of registration at 12:30 p.m. We'll present the top runners and start the race at 1:30 p.m.  Here, too, we'll have three time gates. They'll be very accessible, but they are needed to ensure that no competitors are on the route at sunset. Based on the registrations we've already received, we're expecting it to be a truly global event. We're doing everything possible to give you two unforgettable days."

Note: There is no maximum limit on the number of participants. Online registration has been available since October 8. For the SkyRace, athletes must get their race bib at the Race Office by 7:00 p.m. on October 10.
