Podio tutto italiano nella categoria senior con Robert Antonioli, Manfred Reichegger e Damiano Lenzi. Laetitia Roux vince l’oro davanti a Maude Mathys e a Claudia Galicia Cotrina. Tra i giovani vittoria di Alba De Silvestro e Federico Nicolini (Junior). Ekaterina Osichkina e Davide Magnini vincono tra i Cadetti. Negli Espoir vittoria per Axelle Mollaret e Anton Palzer.

Questa mattina nelle nevi di Arinsal (Andorra) sono stati assegnati i titoli europei nella specialità Vertical Race. La gara più bella ed emozionante è stata quella riservata ai senior, 730 metri di dislivello in apnea per conquistare la medaglia d’oro. La squadra azzurra si è presentata in gran forma e a metà gara aveva tre uomini al comando, Manfred Reichegger, Damiano Lenzi e Robert Antonioli, con qualche metro di svantaggio saliva il tedesco Anton Palzer. Sull’ultimo “muro” prima del rettifilo che portava al traguardo Manfred Reichegger ha provato a staccare i propri compagni di squadra, ma la sua azione è stata subito neutralizzata da Antonioli e Lenzi che rientravano sul fuggitivo. Ora è la volta di Robert Antonioli a rilanciare l'azione e mettere la freccia sprintando verso lo striscione d’arrivo, Reichegger non riesce a tenere il ritmo, mentre Lenzi prova ad agguantare la seconda posizione ma senza riuscirci. Antonioli chiude con il tempo di 27’14, mentre Reichegger è secondo a 1’’, sul terzo gradino del podio sale Damiano Lenzi con il tempo di 27’24’’. Anton Palzer è quarto mentre Pietro Lanfranchi e Lorenzo Holzknecht sono rispettivamente quinto e sesto. Gli altri italiani classificati sono Michele Boscacci quattordicesimo, Matteo Eydallin ventitreesimo.

Palzer ha vinto la categoria Espoir davanti a Steven Girard e a Manuel Merillas Moledo. Nadir Maguet è nono.
Nella gara femminile la storia si ripete ancora una volta con Laetitia Roux che sale senza rivali verso la sua ennesima medaglia d’oro. In seconda posizione c’è la svizzera Mathys Maude mentre la spagnola Claudia Galicia Cotrina chiude terza. L’atleta di casa Sophie Dusautoir Bertrand è poco più staccata con al suo fianco Victoria Kreuzer e Axelle Mollaret.

La Roux taglia il traguardo a mani alzate fermando il cronometro in 32’00’’, Maude Mathys è seconda con 1’25 di ritardo, la spagnola Claudia Galicia Cotrina è terza con il tempo 34’40’’. Martina Valmassoi è settima.
Nella categoria Espoir vince Axelle Mollaret davanti a Marta Garcia Farres. L’italiana Alessandra Cazzanelli è terza.
Nella mattinata di Arinsal le prime atlete a partire (ore 9.30) sono state le ragazze della categoria Cadetti, per loro il percorso aveva un dislivello positivo di 465 metri.
Subito al comando è andata la russa Ekaterina Osichkina, alle sue spalle la francese Fanny Meynet - Cordonnier e l’austriaca Verena Streitberger.
La russa sale con un buon ritmo, aumentando considerevolmente il suo vantaggio sulle dirette inseguitrici. La Osichkina tagliano il traguardo in 24’07’’. La Meynet - Cordonnier e la Streitberger sono rispettivamente seconda e terza. Giulia Murada e Laura Corazza sono rispettivamente quarta e quinta.

Tra i Cadetti l’italiano Davide Magnini si è messo subito alla testa della gara e ha mantenuto la prima posizione davanti a Nicolò Canclini e appena dietro il belga Maximilien Drion Du Chapois. Magnini ha chiuso la propria performance con il tempo di 19’16’’.
Subito dopo i Cadetti sono partite le categorie Junior, tra le ragazze sono Alba De Silvestro e Giulia Compagnoni a prendere il comando, la De Silvestro è in ottima forma e stacca anche la compagna di squadra vittima di una crisi di fame. Adele Milloz è in terza posizione. La De Silvestro mantiene la prima posizione sino al traguardo chiudendo in 22’37. La Compagnoni accusa un ritardo di 1’15’’ mentre Milloz sale su terzo gradino del podio con il tempo di 24’41’’. L’altra azzurra Erica Rodigari è ottava.
Tra gli Junior maschile dominio ancora italiano con Federico Nicolini che vince davanti allo spagnolo Oriol Cardona Coll con il tempo di 29’37. In terza posizione il porta colori della Repubblica Ceca Dominik Sàdlo. Luca Faifer e Gian Luca Vanzetta sono decimo e dodicesimo. 5° Petro Canclini
Domani gli atleti internazionali rimarranno a riposo perchè andrà in scena la Font Blanca riservata alle categorie Open. I titoli europei per l’Individual Race saranno assegnati domenica mattina.

This morning on the Arinsal (Andorra) snow the European titles for the Vertical Race speciality were awarded. The most exciting and spectacular event was the Senior race, 730 metres of altitude gain in apnoea to win the gold medal. The Italian team was in great shape and half way through the race had three men in command, Manfred Reichegger, Damiano Lenzi and Robert Antonioli, with the German Anton Palzera a few metres behind. On the last "wall" before the straight run that led to the finishing line Manfred Reichegger tried to leave his fellow teammates behind, but his action was immediately neutralized by Antonioli and Lenzi who caught up of him. Then it was Robert Antonioli's turn to revive the action shooting ahead and sprinting toward the arrival banner, Reichegger failed to keep up the pace, while Lenzi tried unsuccessfully to grab the second position. Antonioli closed with a time of 27'14, while Reichegger was second by 1", Damiano Lenzi with a time of 27'24" climbed onto the third step of the podium. Anton Palzer was fourth while Peter Lanfranchi and Lorenzo Holzknecht were fifth and sixth respectively.
Palzer won the Espoir category ahead of Steven Girard and Manuel Merillas Moledo.
In the women's race history repeated itself once again with Laetitia Roux heading, without rivals, toward her umpteenth gold medal. In second place was the Swiss woman Mathys Maude while the Spanish Claudia Galicia Cotrina closed in third place. The home athlete Sophie Dusautoir Bertrand was a little behind with Victoria Kreuzer and Aexlle Mollaret at her side.
Roux crossed the finishing line with her hands in the air, stopping the stopwatch at 32'00", Maude Mathys was second with a 1'25 delay, the Spanish Claudia Galicia Cotrina third with a time 34'40".
In the Espoir category Aexlle Mollaret won before Martha Garcia Farres. The Italian Alessandra Cazzanelli was third.
In the morning in Arinsal the first athletes to set off at 9.30 were the women Cadets, for them the route had an altitude gain of 465 metres. The Russian Ekaterina Osichkina, immediately took the lead, on her tail was the French Fanny Meynet - Cordonnier and the Austrian Verena Streitberger.
The Russian climbed at a good pace, greatly increasing her advantage over those following behind. Osichkina crossed the finishing line in 24'07". Meynet - Cordonnier and Streitberger were second and third respectively.
Of the Cadets the Italian Davide Magnini took a leading position in the race immediately and maintained first place ahead of Nicholas Canclini, just behind him the Belgian Maximilien Drion Du Chapois. Magnini closed his performance with a time of 19'16".
Immediately after the Cadets the Junior categories left, of the girls Alba De Silvestro and Giulia Compagnoni took command, De Silvestro was in great shape, detaching herself from her teammate, a victim of hunger pangs. Adele Milloz was in third position. De Silvestro maintained the first position until the finishing line, closing in 22'37. Compagnoni arrived 1'15" later, while Milloz climbs onto the third step of the podium with a time of 24'41".
Of the Junior males the Italian Federico Nicolini dominated again winning ahead of the Spaniard Oriol Cardona Coll with a time of 29'37. In third position the carrier of the Czech Republic's flag Dominik Sàdlo.
Tomorrow the international athletes will rest because the Font Blanca reserved for the Open categories will be run. The European titles for the Individual Race will be awarded on Sunday morning.
