NEWS IN ENGLISH:

European Skyrunning® Championship enrolments closed with record numbers. And they really are high numbers. With exactly one week to go until the competition for the continental title of Ultra SkyMarathon in the shade of the Piccole Dolomiti, the "trail fever" started to rise with the theme evening held at the Alpstation in Schio. At the evening it became immediately clear that the scope of this young event would be considerable.

Not just because of the important technical and historical aspects, but because 22 nations will be represented by a total of 580 athletes on the track. There will be about eighty women participating, some of them from overseas. The organization will host an army of volunteers: nearly 300 divided between the Schio and Vicenza sections of Ana: mountain rescue, Red Cross, amateur radio operators, and doctors, with the support of numerous sports associations from Vicenza. "Safety first," began staff of the Ultrabericus Team. “We have implemented various plans according to the difficulties that could be encountered during the event. We are ready now, and over the next few days will put the finishing touches to the route".

The path, which straddles the Veneto and Trentino regions, is very important from a historic point of view, and will include 3 provinces and 11 municipalities. It is 80 km and a climb of 5,500 metres, a long journey that will start on Saturday, 27 July at 1 am from Piovene Rocchette and finish in Piazza Garibaldi in Valdagno during the course of the day. The top runners are expected to finish at about 10 in the morning, while there will be up to 24 hours to complete the race. And on Sunday there will be the grand final with the spectacular Downhill Race in Recoaro.

Numerous events will take place in the week running up to the event: the appointment with the press is planned for Wednesday 24 July at 11 am at the Alpstation shop in Schio, and the next day at 9 pm, again at the Alpstation shop in Schio, there will be the official presentation and distribution of bib numbers to the top athletes with a party afterwards.

The Trans d’Havet will not only award of the European Ultra Trail title, but it will be the third competition and will close the Vicenza Ultra Challenge, which will be assigned by summing the times of the Ultrabericus Trail, the 100 e Lode and the Trans d'Havet. However, the Cristina Castagna Trophy will be assigned to the first man and the first woman to reach the outlook at the Fraccaroli Refuge at the peak of Cima Carega, dedicated to a special woman who prepared for her eight thousand kilometres on these mountains.
